The File System Event Distributor developed in our group has the aim to facilitate the data distribution, reproduction and backup of data on networked file systems. It is done by providing a standard interface for file system activity. Very different systems can be interconnected in an efficient way.

It is achieved by capturing file system events at the point of their creation in the kernel of the servers and by redistributing them in an efficient and safe way. The modular setup of this system enables the administrators to change the tasks they want to do with the file system events ranging from recording the name of the modified files for a later backup to performing the same tasks on another file server.
